ANC in Mangaung thanks voters for showing confidence in the party

The African National Congress (ANC) in Mangaung Metro in the Free State has thanked locals for giving them another term in office after the local government elections. Many locals raised concerns during the elections about service delivery problems. Despite the drop in seats from 58 to 51, the local ANC says the numbers are not a big concern to them. Provincial interim committee spokesperson, Oupa Khoabane, says they appreciate the gesture of confidence from the electorate.

“The drop in the number of seats is not a worrying factor, I think a motivating factor more than anything else is the confidence that the electorate has shown in the ANC that ensure that the ANC still controls this municipality of Mangaung. And we think that that motivation will inspire the ANC to improve service delivery mode and more than before. And we thank the voters for that gesture and we promise to really do more to ensure that we turn things around.”

DA to keep watchful eye on ANC in Mangaung

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Mangaung Metro says it intends to keep a close watch on council and monitor how the ANC will run the municipality.

Despite losing one seat in the council, the DA retained its position as the official opposition.

The ANC also lost support but managed to retain its absolute majority.

DA Caucus leader is David Masoeu says, “The other thing is we don’t think that ANC will change much in Mangaung Metro in terms of service delivery. The poor service delivery will continue because the same people that brought down this municipality will probably be elected again in other words the same personnel but different term.

So we are of the opinion that we need to hold them accountable as opposition party and make sure that they keep the promise that they made to the voters that they will improve things in Mangaung Metro.”

[Album] Harmonize – “High School” Album ft. Sarkodie..

Harmonize High School Album

The day Harmonize has being dreaming of (05-11-2021) is finally here, The High School Album Is Out Now!!!

Konde Music Worldwide releases Harmonize sophomore album titled “High School“. The 20 track project features Sarkodie, Ibraah, Naira Marley, Anjella, Bosiswa & Sholo Mwamba.

See Tracklist below

Harmonize is a Tanzanian singer, songwriter, and dancer whose bright fusion of bongo flava and catchy Afro-pop helped establish him in the African mainstream in the late 2010s. As a solo artist and multi-instrumentalist, he has earned particular acclaim for “Kwa Ngaru,” one of several collaborations with Diamond Platnumz, as well as his expansive 2020 album, Afro East, which featured guests like Yemi Alade and Morgan Heritage.

Born Rajabu Abdul Kahali and sometimes known as Konde Boy, Harmonize debuted in 2015 with “Aiyola,” a sunny and melodic single which he followed up in 2016 with “Bado,” his first collaboration with fellow Tanzanian Diamond Platnumz. The song earned him a WatsUp Africa Music Video Award for Best African Newcomer Video. Additional singles like “Happy Birthday” and “Sina” followed, but it was 2017’s hooky “Kwa Ngaru,” again with Diamond Platnumz, that served as his breakthrough hit.

After delivering the club hit “Fire Waist”, with Skales and debut EP, Afro Bongo in 2018/19, Harmonize launched his own label, Konde Music Worldwide, and collaborated with artists like Sheebah, Eddy Kenzo, and Phyno before delivering his debut full-length, Afro East, in 2020. According to Apple Music;

Class is in session on Harmonize’s second album, “HIGH SCHOOL” which brings together artists and genres from across the continent. With each track as a serving as school subject, Harmonize (Rajab Abdul) covers love, forgiveness, inspiration and more across 20 tracks. Rooted in East African melodies, High School sees Harmonize widen his syllabus to include more English language lyrics—and a host of collaborators from Naira Marley (“Song”) and Sarkodie (“Why”), to Busiswa (“Sandakalawe”), Ibraah (“Mdomo”) and Sholo Mwamba (“Kamaliza”). [Album] Zlatan – “Resan Album” feat. Buju, Ms Banks, Bella Shmurda

Zlatan Resan Album

Resan The Album by Zlatan is finally out!!! Listen HERE!

Nigerian rapper, Zlatan drops his sophomore album titled “RESAN“. According to the Zanku records boss and president;

There were predictions that I won’t be here for long, but God and my fans have proven all naysayers wrong. For this, I’m joyous and grateful.

I’ve burnt the candle at both ends to ensure that our album is top notch. I worked my ass out to please my fans and not let y’all down. It’s been hard but it’s been worth it.’

Resan The album is a 12 track project that features; Buju, Ms Banks, Bella Shmurda, Davido, Phyno, Flavour, Rayvanny & Sho Madjozi with the previously released singles – ‘Alubarika‘ and ‘Ale Yi’.

On his sophomore album, the multi-talented Zlatan Ibile takes stock of his ongoing progress as an artist. “‘Resan’ is actually a Swedish word that means ‘the journey’,” he tells Apple Music. “I called it that because there’s something particular about my journey—from being a grassroots artist to being someone that’s celebrated globally. I want the people to know what my music career has looked like so far.”

Delicately balancing cohesion and experimentation, the rapper stands firmly in his Zanku sound while exploring several themes over Amapiano, drill and highlife-infused instrumentation. This is the first time Zlatan has something different to tell, so there are improvements, new sounds and different skills.

The rapper talks Apple Music through his second album, track by track;

“That Guy”

“This is that kind of ‘Wake Up’ vibe—thanking God for life and everything. I said, ‘Many people have tried, and many people have failed/But I don’t want to be that guy.’ That means the only guy I want to be is a successful one. It’s for everybody—when you listen to the lyrics, you can now pick the kind of guy you want to become.”

“Alubarika” (feat. Buju)

“‘Alubarika’ means ‘certain’, and this is like a prayer song as well. As I’m going and coming—when I leave my house—success must come out of it. I was just at home in 2019 and saw a tweet saying, ‘I want Zlatan on this song’. I didn’t really know who he was then, but fast-forward to 2021 and Buju is one of the hottest artists in Nigeria. I’m happy for him and happy I could play a little role in his journey as well.”

“Level”

“‘Level’ is for the gals dem! I’m using this one to praise all the girls. Just as you’re built, don’t look down on yourself. You have level on your own and don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t.”

“Shakur” (feat. Ms Banks)

“This is a drill song, and I just felt I needed a UK rapper on it. I recorded it in Lagos but was in London a while back. Ms Banks is my G, and we were in studio together; I played the track for her and she loved it. ‘Shakur’ is Yoruba slang where you’re saying, ‘You’re free to show yourself and free to feel yourself’.”

“Polongo” (feat. Bella Shmurda)

“The chemistry between me and Bella is spiritual. He’s someone I’ve always known had something in him that the world needs to listen to. During COVID, we connected more and had music camps together. We were recording so many songs and that’s how we got his ‘Cash App’ track, ‘Hallelu’ with Masterkraft and this one. We recorded around that time period, but this is a different vibe entirely. We actually got inspiration from Danfo Drivers, who are some Nigerian OGs who did that highlife kind of sound.”

“Egun”

“I recorded this song two years ago, and every time I was making a project, I’d try to infuse it. I lost the data, and there’s always something with making a beat again! I wasn’t comfortable with the beats I was making, but I was able to work with P.Priime, who delivered. The tempo went down a bit ’cause I really wanted everybody to listen. This is a marital song, talking about us not being unfortunate by going into wedlock with someone that’s not meant for us.”

“One Life”

“This is for my party people! You only live once, whether you like it or not, and you actually need to live it to the fullest. I worked on this song with a producer named Willis, who actually produced ‘Celebrate Me’ by Patoranking. I like to work with young people that have drive and hunger ’cause the connection is always different. In Nigeria—and every part of the world—amapiano is big and that’s good for South Africans. We have to celebrate with them right now, as amapiano cuts across all countries and continents.”

“Money” (feat. Davido)

“[Davido’s] my brother and my main man. We have this chemistry that goes beyond us being colleagues; we’re quite cool friends. I didn’t wanna disappoint those who love hearing me and Davido together. So, this one is talking about me not wanting to look like I have money when I don’t, ’cause if you don’t have money, they’ll steal your wife!”

“Ale Yi”

“This was the last song I recorded on the project, and it’s just a nice vibe. I just knew it had to go out immediately when I recorded it! I was thinking about a lot of things, and even if you think [about them] from now ’til tomorrow, you can’t solve your problems—just forget your worries and enjoy yourself.”

“Fada” (feat. Phyno & Flavour)

“Having both Flavour and Phyno on a track is destruction already! Now spiced up with the Zanku as well. It sounds so perfect.”

“Energy” (feat. Rayvanny & Sho Madjozi)

“I recorded ‘Energy’ a year ago, and I’m just appreciating God’s work for creating these sexy women. This is a banger for dancers across the world. I’m looking forward to going to Tanzania and South Africa to shoot this video.”

“See Me So”

“This is just a vibe where I’m singing to a lady, proposing my love to her.”

Springboks 14 year record under threat from the All Blacks, can they break it?

The All Blacks find themselves in a good position to break a 14 year-old record from the Springboks as the year draws to a close.

The Springboks and the All Blacks have been jostling for the world number one ranking all year long, but it seems like that is not where it ends.

Both sides have been competing all year

The rankings are just one pf plenty of places that the Springboks and All Blacks have been battling in. Both very proud and powerful rugby playing nations, it is always a bone crunching affair whenever they take to the field against each other. With the South Africans sitting out 2020, the rivalry between the two powerhouses was reignited this year and boy was it worth the wait.

The Springboks and the All Blacks treated both their fans and those of the sport of rugby across the world to two mouthwatering and tightly contested Rugby Championship encounters in Australia. Proving how little it has taken to separate the two sides of late, both games were settled by a kick in the dying minutes of each game.

Teams traded blows in the Rugby Championship

The first test saw All Blacks full back Jody Barrett slot in from the cone near the touchline to hand his side the victory, while an Elton Jantjies drop goal won the last game for the Springboks. With that, the All Blacks have already got one over the Springboks by winning the Rugby Championship and by the looks of things, it might not end there.

All Blacks in line to break this Springbok record

The All Blacks are also in line to break the record for the most Test points scored in a calendar year. The record is currently held by Jake Whites’ Springbok side who amassed a total of 658 points in 17 Tests in the year they claimed the 2007 Rugby World Cup. Should the All Blacks managed to score 31 more points in their last three games this year, the record would belong to them.

The All Blacks will surely fancy their chances as they face Italy this weekend, followed by the likes of Ireland and France. The Springboks will be hoping for a miracle to restrict the New Zealanders from achieving that in the coming weeks, but is that hope realistic?

Elections 2021: ANC NWC to meet – coalitions on the agenda

The ANC’s head of elections Fikile Mbalula says the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) will meet on Friday, 5 November 2021, to discuss their coalition options.

Mbalula spoke to journalists following the official announcement of the results of the local government elections at the Tshwane Events Centre on Thursday evening.

The ANC achieved a majority in 161 municipalities, while the Democratic Alliance (DA) achieved a majority in 13 municipalities. The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) managed to bag 10 municipalities during these elections. Political parties, including the ANC have no choice but to enter into coalition agreements as there are now 66 hung municipalities.

ANC’S FIKILE MBALULA: ‘BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD’

Fikile Mbalula has also acknowledged that the ANC’s losses at the polls, particularly in several municipalities, can be partially attributed to their own weaknesses as a party.

Mbalula also says the party has been left rather shocked with how it performed in KwaZulu-Natal, where it bagged 42.02% of the votes, but lost its outright majority in the eThekwini Municipality.

“We wanted to win with a decisive majority so that we don’t have hung municipalities. We fought very hard but we dropped, and a big surprise is KwaZulu-Natal. It’s a question of going back to the drawing board… we ran this campaign on the success story of being in power for the past five years. Also there are municipalities that we lost because of our own weaknesses”

ANC’s head of elections Fikile Mbalula

So far, ActionSA and the DA have stated categorically that they will not form coalitions with the ANC, but in South African politics, just about anything can happen. The ANC has already established a team led by the party’s policy head Jeff Radebe, that will analyse the results and make a detailed presentation to the NWC about in which municipalities coalitions or other forms of co-operation with other parties would be necessary.
