Reliance and National Multiplex Chains lock 55% revenue share for Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi

While all through the week, Reliance was adamant on 60% revenue share for Week 1, National multiplex chains were refusing to up the usual norm of 52.5%. Finally, the stakeholders settled late on Thursday night with advance bookings opening up at 10.30 pm. "While Rohit Shetty kept a bit of distance from the revenue share issue till Wednesday, he was completely involved in all decision making on Thursday. Right from morning, he headed all meetings with Reliance and Multiplexes trying to find a solution. He held on to the film for a big screen release for 20 months and wanted it to reach the audience all across India in the best possible way. Hence, letting go off a multiplex release was not exactly an option," an insider informed Bollywood Hungama.

The insider adds, "Finally, Rohit brought Reliance and Multiplex Association on the common ground with all parties agreeing to a revenue sharing model of 55% in the first week. This was somewhere in between the first offer of 50% made by national chains and 60% made by Reliance. Rohit even tried to sort out the show sharing issues with Disney. While the studio wasn't available for the meetings, Rohit sat down on the showcasing front to ensure that Sooryavanshi gets maximum showcasing without compromising much on the Hollywood film, Eternals. Finally, things fell in place on this busy Diwali day."

The movie is now releasing on nearly 4200 screens in India today and is expected to set the box office on fire. Sooryavanshi features Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh and is a part of Rohit Shetty's cop universe.

Bomb scare: Shoppers evacuate Blue Route Mall in Cape Town

Police in Cape Town urgently forced shoppers to evacuate Blue Route Mall following a bomb scare notice on Thursday 4 November.

THREAT CAME FROM BLUE ROUTE MALL CLOTHING STORE

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) report, the threat was communicated via a Kirstenhof police patrol vehicle before 11:00.

SAPS bomb squad and K9 United descended to the precinct before the shopping centre staff and the public were urgently told to evict the facility near Tokai.

“After a search by the SAPS bomb squad, Blue Route mall was cleared to reopen. No suspicious packages were found,” SAPS spokesperson Frederick van Wyk said.

“A case of bomb threat was opened and is being investigated by Kirstenhof detectives.”

One local citizen claimed on social media that the event was reported at an Edgars store. “Hearing reports of an actual bomb being found at Edgars in Blue Route Mall Flushed face The mall has been evacuated. Anybody else hear anything?” @ToniPolony11 said.

BLUE ROUTE BOMB SCARE PRESS STATEMENT

The Blue Route Mall management soon sent a due update on the event via a social media statement. The mall said the decision to force out shoppers was to prioritise the public’s safety.

“Dear patrons, this morning there was a bomb scare at Blue Route Mall. Out of an abundance of caution, we evacuated the building,” the mall said.

“The safety of our customers, tenants, and employees is of the highest priority.”

Meanwhile, the event becomes the third bomb scare to rock a local shopping complex in under a month. Johannesburg’s Rosebank Mall was subjected to two threats within the space of a fortnight late last month.

“We have been approached with a threat and local authorities have requested that we evacuate the mall as of 4:50pm today, 21 October 2021,” Rosebank Mall’s note said.

Eskom load-shedding: Government working on blackout reductions

Government has said what we all perhaps want to hear, Eskom’s load-shedding blackouts could result in a significant decrease, the state said on Wednesday 3 November.

GOVERNMENT WORKING CLOSELY WITH EMBATTLED POWER UTILITY

According to the Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele, the state has had a sit-down with the national energy provider to find actions to reduce South Africa’s blackouts.

Following a cabinet sitting, Gungubele said the government has felt rising ‘awareness’ on the trouble and disruption the public has suffered.

“Cabinet acknowledges the disruptions and inconvenience of intermittent load-shedding experienced by South Africans in recent days,” the note said.

“The Department of Public Enterprises is working closely with the Board of Eskom and management to ensure that we limit the daily duration of load-shedding and the period for which this intervention will be required.”

ESKOM LOAD-SHEDDING SUPPORT PLAN

The government said the National Treasury is supporting the power utility towards finding solutions that include re-employing added skilled personnel.

One of the central solutions will be the introduction of a “new power generation capacity online in the shortest possible time.”

“National Treasury is working with Eskom to grant it the appropriate exemptions to acquire the spare parts needed for repairs and maintenance,” the statement added.

“The interventions include lifting the threshold for companies to produce their own electricity without a licence to 100 megawatts (MW).

“While Cabinet is aware that the current energy challenges are frustrating and counterproductive to economic growth, it is confident that the practical actions government is taking to restructure and strengthen our electricity system will eventually improve the country’s energy capacity,” the briefing concluded.
