Stuart Baxter took over this season as Kaizer Chiefs coach after Gavin Hunt was fired just two matches from the end of last season’s DStv Premiership, despite leading Amakhosi to the final of the CAF Champions League.

JUST IN: Joburg Mayor Jolidee Matongo killed in a car accident

The newly-elected Mayor of Johannesburg, Jolidee Matongo (46), was killed in a car accident on Saturday.

It is believed hee died in a car accident on Saturday, hours after participating in an ANC electioneering programme with President Cyril Ramaphosa in Soweto.

I am shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Johannesburg Mayor, Jolidee Matongo.

My sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues in the ANC.

Politics must always come last in these moments. He was taken far too soon.

A statement was expected to be issued on Saturday night.

He had been appointed as mayor on 10 August and served in the position for just over a month.

Matongo had been elected unopposed as Joburg mayor, succeeding Geoff Makhubo, who died in July of Covid-19 complications.

He served as the MMC for Finance under Makhubo. He had risen through the ranks, from serving as a member of the Soweto Student Congress and the Congress of South African Students (Cosas) before moving on to serve as the regional head of communications in the ANC for eight years.

He lived in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg.

Last month Matongo faced criticism after he mentioned in his acceptance speech that he is the son of a Zimbabwean migrant.

“I, Jolidee Matongo, the son of the late Edward Matongo, a migrant from Zimbabwe, do hereby accept the nomination for the position of Executive Mayor of our city,” said the politician. Following, the announcement, social media was flooded with xenophobic comments directed at the new mayor.

The City of Johannesburg made it clear that the 46-year-old was born in Soweto and raised in Johannesburg, in response to people who were questioning his nationality.

“We grew up with Jolideee Matongo in the [Youth League], and today, we are canvassed to reject him because his father was Zimbabwean,” said Malema, who of course was a member of the ANC himself, once.

Kaizer Chiefs fans have seen enough of what Stuart Baxter can offer the club, and they are calling for the immediate sacking of the coach.

On Saturday, Chiefs suffered a humiliating 4-1 loss to new PSL boys Royal AM; their second in successive league matches under Baxter.

And the majority of the Amakhosi fans on Twitter believes Baxter isn’t the right man for the job, especially given the players that the club brought in at the start of the season.

Baxter has since apologized to the Chiefs supporters for the embarrassing defeat to Royal AM which left them in 12th position on the PSL log.

A number of Amakhosi fans believe the management should have let Arthur Zwane take over as first team coach this season, and NOT Baxter.

Zwane was the interim coach alongside Dillon Sheppard when Chiefs sacked Gavin Hunt at the end of May 2021.

The pair didn’t lose a game in the four matches they were in charge of the Chiefs first team, and this includes securing the historic CAF Champions League final berth for the Soweto giants.

Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber pulls no punches, offers no excuses

Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber pulled no punches and offered no excuses after South Africa went down by 30-17 to the Wallabies in their Rugby Championship Test in Brisbane on Saturday, admitting that they were outplayed in all areas.

Nienaber described the performance as the Springboks’ worst since 2018, and said they will need a massive improvement if they want to be competitive against New Zealand next weekend.

“We were truly beaten in each department, and beaten hands down,” said a disappointed Jacques Nienaber after the Test.

“We just made too many errors in every aspect of our game and we need to figure out quickly what went wrong, as things don’t get any easier in the next two weeks.

“In the Rugby Championship, you get tested differently by each opponent and we came up short against Australia. Next week will be another massive, but different challenge and we will have to try and turn things around. Win or lose, we have a review process anyway, and that will be done again.”

Nienaber apologised to Springbok supporters for the performance, which he described as the worst since the defeat against Argentina in Mendoza in 2018 and not worthy of the green and gold jersey.

“We were overpowered. We have not conceded four tries in a match since 2018 and today we could not respond to the challenges put up by Australia,” the Springbok coach said.

As the Springboks’ defence coach, Nienaber said one of the four tries scored by Australia was a system error, but the rest were down to poor defensive execution. To add to their woes, the Boks also delivered an inconsistent kicking game, their coach said.

“Guys missed tackles today that they normally make,” said Nienaber.

“If every player in the team misses just one tackle, you will have 23 missed tackles and at times it felt like that was happening.

“We executed poorly and that led to points against us as well. We did create some opportunities, but the error rate just nullified that. This was an unheard-of performance today, to be honest.”

Chude shared clips of the interview on his Instagram page and in them, Black Face spoke about how the industry blacklisted him, as well as, his beef with music legend, 2Baba.

According to him, lots of people think that he has strong beef with his former bandmate – Plantashun Boiz. but a lot of people will be shocked to hear that they are cool.

He also mentioned that 2face, now widely known as 2Baba has always been people’s favorite, even while growing up, and as a result of that, he got to have problems with a number of people. Furthermore, he remarked that he did not come into the industry to make money but to make good music for his fans.

Touching on his relationship, Black Face says he is separated from his wife and they share custody of 2 kids.
