Three women killed, five others injured in Inanda drive-by shooting

Three women were shot and killed, while five others were injured in a drive-by shooting in Inanda on Saturday evening.

A BAKKIE DROVE PAST AND OPENED FIRE ON A GROUP OF PEOPLE

Police spokesperson Brigadier Jay Naicker said on Saturday, 11 September 2021 at 16:00, a group of people was standing at the front gate of Buhlebethu Primary School at Newtown C in Inanda.

“It is alleged that at this stage a black Opel Corsa bakkie with five occupants drove by the school. According to witnesses, the occupants of the vehicle opened fire at the group with handguns before fleeing from the scene.”

He said three women, aged between 34 and 60, was killed in the shooting and the stampede that ensued.

“Four women and a man, who are aged between 41 and 70 years old, were injured during the shootout and received medical attention.”

Police at Inanda are investigating three counts of murder and five of attempted murder.

“We cannot confirm the motive for the shooting at this stage.”

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has condemned the shooting at Inanda.

“The killing of innocent citizens cannot be accepted, and we will do everything that is within our control to bring the perpetrators to book. We are also appealing to the community to expose the culprits of this heinous crime. There can be no justification for such a vicious and cowardly act,” he said.

Last month, at least 11 people were violently murdered in a period of a week at the Umlazi township in KwaZulu-Natal in two unrelated incidents.

THIRTY-SEVEN 9MM CARTRIDGES, TWO SPENT BULLETS WERE FOUND AT THE ONE SCENE

In the first incident, six people were shot and killed at U Section on Sunday, 29 August 2021.

In the second incident on Tuesday, 31 August 2021, at W Section, another five people were shot and killed, and three others sustained serious injuries.

“Reports suggest that a group of people were in a house when three unknown gunmen armed with 9mm pistols attacked them. The victims sustained serious injuries on the head and the upper body. The three who were injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention.”

Thirty-seven 9mm cartridges, two spent bullets, and a live round of ammunition were found at the crime scene.

Eastern Cape: Nurse in love triangle stabbed to death at hospital

A male nursing assistant at Zithulele Hospital in Eastern Cape was viciously stabbed to death at the facility in the early hours of Saturday morning, 11 September 2021.

The details are rather shocking and tell a tale of a twisted love triangle gone horribly wrong: The perpetrator of the 34-year-old man’s tragic brutal murder is believed to be his girlfriend’s SECOND boyfriend.

The victim reportedly stayed at the hospital nurses’ residence on the hospital premises.

Here’s what happened: It is alleged that the man, his girlfriend and roommate (who was sitting on an adjacent bed in the room), were interrupted by a loud bang on the door. The roommate then went to open the door, when the woman’s second boyfriend angrily entered the room and began fighting with the victim.

At some point, the nurse was stabbed and the roommate subsequently called hospital security. He was taken to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The suspect has since been arrested.

Eastern Cape Health MEC shocked by nurse’s murder

The Eastern Cape’s Health MEC Nomakhosazana Meth has since expressed her shock and sadness at the nurse’s gruesome murder and further expressed her condolences to his family.

“Our hearts go out to the family and colleagues of the deceased at this time of sorrow and sadness. As the department we are sending healing prayers and comforting words during this difficult period” Meth said.

“Words cannot adequately express the pain of losing such a young health worker, especially at the time when the country needs each one to continue the fight against Covid-19. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.”

Now they will be launching an investigation to look into how the alleged killer managed to enter the hospital premises with a dangerous weapon in the first place.

Tragic! A 27-year-old woman’s body found off Van Staden’s bridge

Police are investigating an inquest after a woman’s body was found off Van Staden’s bridge on Saturday.

ANOTHER WOMAN WAS FOUND DEAD IN HER KZN HOME

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli police opened an inquest docket following the recovery of a woman’s body off the Van Staden’s bridge near Thornhill on Saturday afternoon.

“On Saturday morning, 11 September 2021 just before 10:00, it is alleged that a passer-by contacted the police after seeing a white Nissan Tiida parked near Van Stadens bridge with no occupants.

“Moments later, the search and rescue teams launched a search operation.”

Nkohli said at about 13:00, the body of a 27-year-old woman was found floating in the water.

“The name of the deceased is being withheld until the next of kin formally identifies the body.”

Meanwhile, the body of another woman was found in her house in Cottonwood, KwaZulu-Natal.

Reaction Unit South Africa spokesperson Prem Balram said a 20-year-old female committed suicide.

“Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to a residence in Cottonlands, KZN at approximately 14:43 on Saturday after the female was found hanging by a school tie from a wooden frame on the upper level of her home.”

Balram said on arrival at the scene, reaction officers found the provincial ambulance in attendance.

“Medics assessed the female and found that she showed no signs of life and was declared deceased.”

“According to her family, the deceased allegedly had an argument with her boyfriend last night.”

McDonald’s customer CRUSHED to death in freak accident at drive-thru

An unknown man in Vancouver, Canada, was killed by his own car at a McDonald’s drive-thru in what the authorities have labelled as a freak accident.

According to The Bellingham Herald, the tragic incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 05:30 in the morning. The man had apparently dropped his bank card as he was about to pay for his food at the drive-thru window.

He then moved to pick up his ground off the ground – a move which would prove to be deadly. Officials say he was caught between the car’s frame and a wall at the McDonald’s drive-thru.

“When he went to pick up the item, the vehicle rolled forward, colliding into a structural piece of the restaurant. The driver was unable to free himself from the vehicle as he was pinned between the vehicle door and frame,”

Investigation launched into McDonald’s freak accident

Vancouver Police Constable Tania Visintin told the CBC that they attended to the man, but it was far too late and was already dead.

“Efforts were made by first responders to revive the man, but tragically he died on scene. This is an absolutely heartbreaking scenario. Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this man,” Visintin said.

They have since launched an investigation into the man’s death. Police have since urged members of the public, including McDonald’s customers, who may have footage from the incident to contact the Collision Division of the Vancouver Police Department.

“People aren’t used to seeing this type of incident happen, especially at your workplace. I would assume everyone is shaken up. Usually when we hear about a fatal motor vehicle accident it is usually, typically a crash with another vehicle. So the fact that no other vehicle was involved… this seems like a freak accident,” they said.

Connie Ferguson has returned to her role of Harriet Khoza on Mzansi Magic’s The Queen after taking a break following the death of her husband, Shona Ferguson. Veteran actor and film producer Shona Ferguson, affectionately known as “Uncle Sho” passed away due to the COVID-19 related complications on 30 July at the age of 47. 

The death of Shona Ferguson was heartbreaking for many South Africans who grew up watching him on screen. This was a drop in the ocean of saddness compared to the pain his wife, Connie Ferguson has endured. The Kings of Jo’Burg star’s death was just a day before he and his wife would have celebrated 20 years together.

Shona and Connie Ferguson established their own TV production company together called Ferguson Films in 2010 which serves as the production house to popular soapies Rockville and The Queen. Connie Ferguson had taken some time off from her role on The Queen to mourn the death of her beloved husband.

In a recent post, she shared her warm welcome back to the set which she feels is for a bigger purpose than her own.

“New Slate. Executive Producer: GOD. Director: JESUS. Starring: THE HOLY SPIRIT,” wrote Connie Ferguson on Instagram.

“Team #thequeen #fergusonfilms. I love you all so much! Thank you for today. It’s good to do what you love knowing it’s for a purpose bigger than yourself,” she continued.

In August, Connie Ferguson’s character Harriet Khoza fell in love with her arch enemy Hector Sebata, played by Rapulana Seiphemo. This left fans concerned over the pair’s romance and if Connie would return at all. Harriet is the matriarch of her family and many storylines centre around her. Tweeps sincerely missed her during her time away.
