It’s a tribute to the footballing God Diego Maradona unlike no other as the All-Stars Football Club and digital influencers and content creators come together for a special match in honour of the Argentina football legend. The match, to be held tomorrow, just days after Maradona’s 61st birth anniversary, on November 3rd at Jamnabai Grounds, Mumbai, will see the Bollywood superstars in action against famous influencers. We will witness Bollywood celebrities and sports stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Ahan Shetty, Shoojit Sircar, Vivian D’sena, Leander Paes pitted against famous influencers Awez Darbar, RJ Abhinavv, Zaid Darbar, Viraj Ghelani, Ranveer Allahbadia and Karan Sonawane among others during the fun and exciting match.
The match will be played just days after the launch of Amazon Original Series Maradona: Blessed Dream, a biopic spanning 10 episodes follows the triumphs and challenges of the legendary football player Diego Armando Maradona, from his humble beginnings in Argentina, to his game changing career through Barcelona and Napoli, and his role in taking his national team to win the World Cup in Mexico in ’86. The biopic is a poignant accolade to the late famous footballer, sharing their love and admiration for the player and his passion for the sport.
Speaking of the match, Bunty Walia of GS Worldwide Entertainment said, "Maradona is one of the most celebrated and legendary footballers across the world. In a few days from now, the much-awaited film, Sooryavanshi, will finally release in cinemas, on Friday, November 5. Directed by Akshay Kumar, this Rohit Shetty-directed film was supposed to release on March 24, 2020. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown, it was postponed indefinitely. The producers then decided to release it on Diwali 2020. Though cinemas had opened by then, the situation didn’t seem conducive. After cinema halls were granted 100% occupancy, Sooryavanshi’s release was planned on April 30, 2021. The second wave of Covid-19, sadly, delayed all plans.
But now, all is well. The advance booking has opened and trade and industry expects the action entertainer to take a bumper opening. Not just in India, but even the Overseas audience has been looking forward to the film. Those in UAE, however, received a minor jolt when they realized that Sooryavanshi would release in their region on Friday, November 5, and not on Thursday, November 4. For those who are unaware, all films release in the UAE on a Thursday. With Sooryavanshi makers deciding to release their film on Friday, viewers there were disheartened and were wondering the reason behind it.
A source close to the film told Bollywood Hungama the rationale behind this decision, “The makers are of the opinion that this film should open worldwide on November 5. They feel that audiences across the globe should get a chance to access the film on the big screen on the same day.”
That’s not all. The source added, “As everyone knows by now, both Rohit Shetty and Akshay Kumar are huge believers in numerology. They have been told to release the film on the 5th as it would prove lucky for them. Due to these reasons, Sooryavanshi won’t have a Thursday release in UAE or any other country.”
Sooryavanshi belongs to the cop universe of Rohit Shetty which also comprises the characters of Singham (played by Ajay Devgn) and Simmba (played by Ranveer Singh). Interestingly, both also feature in the film in special appearances and this factor has added to the buzz around the film.
In a recent article we revealed that Kartik Aaryan had given a special discount to producer Sajid Nadiadwala as he charged a nominal sum of Rs. 15 crores for director Sameer Vidwan's rom-com starring him alongside Kiara Advani. And now, we get you another scoop on Kartik's remuneration for the Ala Vaikunthapuramloo remake, Shehzada.
"Kartik is slowly taking the stride to be among the top stars of the industry and his remuneration is the right indication of his rising popularity. The young dynamite has charged a huge sum of Rs. 21 crores for this action comedy, which is his highest for a single theatrical film till date," a source told Bollywood Hungama.
Kartik has gone ahead with a staggered fee policy. "Kartik is flexible to adjust his fees based on the genre and appeal of the film in the market. Since Sajid's film was required to be made in a certain budget, he was happy to cut down his fees. However, Shehzada is an outright commercial entertainer that can set the box office on fire and hence, he went ahead with premium charges. The producers were more than happy to accommodate his request given his popularity" the source further told us.
Shehzada features Kriti Sanon as the female lead and is directed by Rohit Dhawan.
