Home Affairs Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi says mobile-based services from his department must be expanded to match rising demand.
On Saturday, Motsoaledi visited the Ramaphosa Village informal settlement in Vereeniging, South of Johannesburg, where there’s a large number of people without identity documents.
The provision of services, especially at the local government level, is expected to be a major issue in the November local government elections.
Motsoaledi says many people are very poor and some have lost their IDs in fires.
“We need to increase the mobile trucks so that we go to communities where people are,” says Motsoaledi.
Motsoaledi says increasing mobile offices might encourage people to utilize Home affairs services.\

Local Government Elections
Co-operative Governance Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma this week announced that the local government elections will take place on 1 November. The date will be officially proclaimed on the 20 September, following the scheduled voter registration weekend later this month.
The official proclamation effectively closes the voters roll and therefore voters can still register for the polls until that date.

Nigerian singer, Ckay’s hit jam, ‘Love Nwantiti’ has become the most searched song on Shazam in the world.
This impressive achievement is considered a great feat for Ckay who knocked off Wizkid after his summer jam, Essence became the most Shazamed song in the US last month.
Shazam is an application that is used to identify music, movies, based on the sample that is played. It was created by London-based Shazam Entertainment, owned by Apple Inc. in 2018. The music search app placed Ckay above Kid Laori, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Elton John, and Lil Nas on the top 200 most-shazamed tracks in the world.
Ckay took to his Instagram and Twitter accounts to share the exciting news with his fans. The felony singer wrote:
“Number 1 Most Shazamed Song in the World- Love Nwantiti (ft Dj Yo & Ax’el) We literally global now! Emo-Afrobeat to the world”
Love Nwantiti is the second track off his debut album, Ckay The First. It was released in 2019 and later remixed to feature Joeboy and Kuami Eugene in 2020.
